Ultrasonic phonophoresis apparatus AS-2101

The AS-2101 ultrasound device was developed for ultrasound phonophoresis of the body and face and can also be used for micromassage and lymphatic drainage.

The principle of phonophoresis is closely related to ultrasound therapy and iontophoresis. Here, too, it is a matter of transporting medically effective substances (for example painkillers) to the vicinity of the diseased areas of the body. While electrical current or water acts as the leading medium in iontophoresis, ultrasound is used in phonophoresis. Instead of a contact gel, the drug is applied to the skin in gel form and massaged in with the transducer. The longer the treatment lasts, the deeper the active ingredient penetrates the skin.

Ultrasound waves also cause a deep massage in the tissue, to which heat develops. The tissue regenerates due to this double effect and the medication; Fractures heal faster.

The therapy is used for the following diseases: degenerative diseases of the spine, arthrosis, rheumatism, muscle injuries (hardening, strains, bruises), painful scar tissue or fractures. There is a contraindication to skin defects or inflammation.

The ultrasound acting on the body has a mechanical and thermal effect in the tissue. The mechanical effect is a vibration effect. The sound pressure causes strong compressions and expansions in the surrounding tissue, which corresponds to the effect of a powerful massage or connective tissue massage. The thermal effect arises from the sound absorption of the body's own tissue. This heat generation can be used therapeutically, but it also gives rise to caution. The skin absorbs far less sound than the periosteum, which can lead to severe burns of the periosteum even if the skin feels only slightly warm. The heat generation of the impulse sound is significantly lower than that of the continuous sound, so that when used locally on bones, only the impulse sound is used.
